What happens to my film?

After you finish your roll or disposable camera, the photos are still hidden on the film inside your camera. Before you can see them, the film needs to be developed.
You can bring your film or disposable camera to our lab. We take it from there.

There are three things you’ll hear us talk about:

1. Developing

Developing is the chemical process that turns the film inside your camera into visible negatives. Think of this as the first and necessary step. Without developing the film, you can’t see, scan or print your photos. After development, you have your negatives: the strips of film containing all your photographs.

2. Scanning

Scanning turns your developed negatives into digital photos. These are the images you can view on your phone or computer, share with friends and post online. Most people who bring us a disposable camera or their first roll of film choose development + scanning. We develop the film and send you your photos digitally.

3. Printing

Printing means making physical photo prints on paper. You don’t need prints to see your photos. If you choose scanning, you’ll already receive digital versions of them. You can choose to have your photos printed as well later using our print order system here

Can you develop disposable cameras?

Yes!

You can bring us disposable cameras from brands and shops like HEMA, Kruidvat, Kodak, Fujifilm and many others. Even if the shop where you bought your camera no longer develops film, you can still bring the camera to us. We remove and develop the film for you. Take the film out yourself or just bring us the whole camera.

What happens to my negatives?

After your film has been developed and scanned, the original film still exists. These are your negatives. Your negatives are the original photographs and can be scanned again in the future, so they’re worth keeping. Depending on the options you choose when placing your order, you can keep ship or collect your negatives from us.

What if some photos didn't work?

Sometimes a photo can be too dark, too bright, blurry or accidentally exposed. Occasionally an entire roll can come out empty if something went wrong with the camera or when loading the film. We develop what is actually on the film, so we can only see what worked after development and will let you know if anything is wrong when receiving your scans.

What do I need to bring?

Just bring your finished roll of film or the complete (disposable) camera. You don’t need to remove the film from a disposable camera yourself if you don't want to. When you place your order, you can choose how you would like your film developed, scanned and returned.
